Silence Cricket!
I hear her humid mumbled cry.
Here.
Silence Bird!
She recites an ancient poem.
Silence Black River!
I cannot hear,
trembling, bare footed on damp grass.
I savor the words,
touching upon her lips as they exit her mouth.
I couldn’t fly.

Anna Ruby Falls
Two waterfalls meet,
white liquid air.
A proud hickory towers into the canopy,
as Morning’s fingers entwine through the leaves.
The shadows mesh with the dark rock spots,
spirited lacerated beauty.
Many have died upon those rocks,
walls, separation, oceans.
The water continues
not listening nor worrying
entangled with a mysterious thread.
The bed of rocks tremble under the force of the water
as it plunged downward with a delicate pounding
and the blossomed heart sprung open
giving forth life farther down.
Morning’s light runs down the path,
followed by morning herself
laughter bounces off the rocks
and the sphinx, perched upon the rocks
sticks its head above the canopy
to proclaim the meeting of the two.
You say goodbye
You’ve got stars
moving across the sky,
Passing
a little too close
Forcing you
to open up your eyes,
knowing,
That this was the moment
You had to say goodbye.
Broken dreams cower to the side
They could’ve conquered you,
But you let ’em go hide.
With all these things said
You must realize
That it’s time
you say goodbye.
She paces the floor
Screaming at you
Cause you won’t
give her money for more rock
And you know
It’s time you said goodbye.
The cigarette is snapped to the sky
It’s ember circling the eye
And she steps into the alley way
I reply
It’s time I said goodbye
Time to say goodbye.
Annie and Mary
it’s funny what pops in your mind
while you’re working.
for me
it was Annie and Mary,
a pair of Aussie sisters I had when I was a kid.
they had totally different personalities.
Mary didn’t bark nor growl,
she just bit ya.
And there was Annie,
she was the sweatest thing I’ve ever known,
she was my best friend,
we played baseball together,
hiked together
even slept together.
But tonight I was thinking
of us swimming in the creek on the farm.
tell ourselves the truth
we should always tell ourselves the truth.
and find our own realities
it’s there .
learn it
find it
believe it
and don’t lie to ourselves
we should never lie to ourselves.
never
about who we are
what we are capable of
about what realty is.
about what who we are
and what we can do
and take responsibility
of what we do.
and have done.
we should always tell ourselves the truth
even if we don’t understand it
if we don’t do that.
how can we understand
our own life
our own actions
