New Poems: workings and beginnings., POETRY

Later

Later,

You might recall

The moment you tore the valves

Right off my heart.

But that’s ok

I let it go

I went down

To the Wal-Mart

On the corner

Down the street

And bought some gorilla glue

pieced it back together.

And for years

I walked around

Connected to tubes,

and wires,

with beeping sounds

echoing about me.

Later,

I’ll mop up the blood

Covering the floor.

And staining the hard wood floors.

And sheets.
